There are numerous pathways to and within higher education that offer great flexibility in pursuing individual interests. One such path could be starting a Bachelor’s degree after obtaining your higher education entrance qualification or A-levels, which typically lasts three to four years. Following the Bachelor’s degree, also known as undergraduate study, you have the option to undertake a two-year Master’s programme. This serves to deepen your subject knowledge, prepare for a specific profession, or provide general orientation for future career paths. For those aiming for an academic career, there is the option to pursue a Ph.D. after completing the Master’s degree, involving the creation of a doctoral thesis. The Institute of Educational Science at Heidelberg University is pleased to support you on this or any other path through your academic career.
